Audience Research

When carrying out my research I will be required to use both quantitative and qualitative research in order to get vast amounts of information from my target audience.

Quantitative Research
This type of research aims to measure the activity of my entire target audience by measuring a sample. The use of a sample involves conducting research with groups of people who make a population which, although small, is representative of the entire audience. This type of research is mostly made up of yes or no answers. This is good because it means the questions are relatively easy to answer but it does not gather vast amount of information.

Qualitative Research
This type of research is commonly carried out by journalist because they want to investigate the top in depth. Qualitative research into audience attempts to develop an in-depth understanding of who is consuming media products and their responses. This type of research has a lot of open questions which means that a large amount of information can be gained from this.
